Center Path Institute
Center Path Institute is a massive fancy school in Burncastle. If you're a hybrid, you can get in with a hugely reduced tuition fee or even for free, like what's the case with Mallory I think. It also has the same deal for people with mental illnesses, and it actually sometimes operates as the town's de facto psychiatric ward for people under 20, since it's got a huge building dedicated to just that. It's a pretty nice place. Deirdre's dad Constantine founded it around when Deirdre was a kid, I think, but I'm not exactly sure. You know, like, I'm not the van der Gros historian here. Oh, and before I forget, the tuition is pretty damn expensive if you don't count as one of the two 'discount' groups. It makes sense that it's gotta be expensive because, in the end, the school's gotta pay for the food court and the dormitories and everything. Why not make some cash off of these snobs from uptown coming here on their parents' dime?
The school's organized as a campus with four dormitory buildings: east, west, south, and north. They're circled around the central building where classes happen. Like I said, there's, like, a food court too, andnd a big athletics area with a football field and a track, and I'm pretty sure the surrounding wilderness has a cross country track but I've never been at any of the home meets, nor have I heard of any home meets. More often than not, I get stories from Audrey or Ivy about weird funny things happening at the away meets at Semyot High School or others. I guess it's gotta be some weird security concern thing to have home meets, what with all the people in the west or south buildings.
Not a whole lot else to say. Oh, wait, no, there is. There's a big emphasis placed on the school as being, like, the next step after high school, so that you can transition more smoothly from high school to college. So, like, that means you kinda get to do what you want with not a whole lotta guidance. It's not at all like a traditional school. The first two years here (you usually start at 16) are more like high school with a few college elements, like making your own schedule and being more independent, and the last two years (so 18 – 20) are pretty much just college.
