CPI West Building
The CPI West Building is one of the four main dormitory buildings of Center Path Institute. The primary purpose of the West Building is to provide a more serious and comprehensive treatment plan for certain students who require intensive support; in other words, it would be fitting (though of questionable sensitivity) to describe the West Building as an 'asylum' or a psychiatric hospital. Consequently, the security standards are much higher. The over-arching goal of the West Building and its in-house program, as designed by famed psychiatrist Constantine van der Gros, is to rehabilitate those within to an acceptable state of independence. Eventually, those within the West Building are moved on to the South Building, that they may enjoy a greater degree of autonomy.
Efforts are often made regarding the interior decoration in order to alleviate the oppressing, stifling atmosphere, created by the small, barred windows, heavy-duty doors, and surly orderlies that help guarantee the safety and security of the building and its denizens. However, due to the nature of residencies inside of the building, it is difficult to schedule and coordinate renovation efforts; thus, some of the interior design can be seen as antiquated or out-dated.
Most amenities that would necessitate external travel are available, even if in a slightly diminuitive state, in the West Building. There are minor entertainments, a fully staffed cantina, and--as one may have anticipated--a number of offices for counselors and other psychiatric health professionals. Unlike most other buildings, the residents of the West Building are generally not permitted outside without supervision. From time-to-time, groups of individuals may be taken out on small expeditions around campus.
